| DB Schenker Slovakia as the official logistic partner on the eldest Marathon of Europe

(Kosice, October 4, 2009) This year, DB Schenker Slovakia became the official logistic partner of The International Peace Marathon, as the first logistic partner covering everything under one roof. By this occasion, Slovakia gave a good and successful start into his global sport events activities.
“As logistic partner we experience such big sport event for the first time and this is only the beginning for Kosice”, said Mr. Lindvay – Branch Manager Kosice.
The International Peace Marathon, located in Slovak eastern metropolis Kosice, is the oldest marathon in Europe and second oldest worldwide. It was established in 1924 and the worldwide known athletes run already for 86 times.
International Peace Marathon broke this year various records, one of them was the number of runners - more than 5000 people from 35 countries have crossed the starting line and also the women course record was broken after 20 years.
Not only professional athletes join this sport event every year, but also famous people from the politics and show business. The opening ceremony was held as always by the Slovak Mr. President and watched by many people in the city center of Kosice.
Director of the organizational team, Mr. Koniar, was also fully impressed by this year’s Marathon: “We have behind us one of the most successful years of the whole marathon history by which not only sport results where achieved. Many positives were seen also in the area of technical securing, measurement and certification of the running truck, also as partners and sponsors, which didn’t only support us by money but had a unique significance in the whole event organization. One of them was also the company DB Schenker, which covered all the logistics service for us and managed this task in a brilliant way.”
For DB Schenker Slovakia it was a new unique experience which will be a good base for the next year and sport events of this kind.
